America In Libya ? NATO Calls For Urgent US Help

America initiated the action in Libya and moved into the background permitting NATO to take the lead. Britain and France had invested in Libya and were more than willing to step in to protect their investment. However, NATO has quickly sought American intervention in the form of supply of logistics and command. This has put America in a very piquant situation.

It received virtually zero support from its NATO allies for its campaign in Afghanistan and Iraq. Now, when it is prepared to take a backseat and conserve its resources, it is discovering that its leadership is needed by NATO.

Although this is a very nice situation for the American ego, it is not a nice situation for the American economy. Obama is already under fire for declaring war against Libya without sanction from the Congress. One reason why America was keen on transferring command to NATO was to avoid criticism in this regard. In such a scenario, the prospect of Americans taking charge of the Libya operations is clearly going to affect public opinion in Libya.

Once America takes the dominant stand, Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations will step in and will do their best to ensure that the current Libyan government continues. The prospect of Libya becoming another Afghanistan where victory and loss are rendered irrelevant is a frightening prospect for American strategists.

Only time will tell whether the renewed Americans support to the NATO effort will bring a quick end to the crisis. The only way to end the current Libyan crisis is to overthrow the Gaddafi government and bring in a government that is acceptable to the masses.

The Leader of Republicans in the House of Representatives teamed up with the President and competed with the Vice President and another leader from the Republican Party in a recent game of golf. This game has huge implications for the financial security of the nation.

If the Republican and Democrat impasse related to the budget is not settled soon, the government may be forced to default on its expenses. This is not the first time that the President has threatened to declare a financial emergency due to the non-passage of the budget in the Congress and Senate.

Things came very close to a meltdown a few weeks ago but was averted and a simmering peace was temporarily reached. However, the issue of deficit and the extra loan that the President is seeking to run the government does not show any signs of resolving. The Republicans argue that it is high time the President pulled back on wasteful government expenditure to reduce the deficit. They are refusing to clear the budget unless these points are agreed to.

The Democrats point out that the governmental expenditure is important because the economy is not out of the recession yet. The prospect of immediate financial collapse is far more worrying than the prospect of future deficit.

Both sides have their points in favor and against the topic. In such a scenario, the actual decision is based on politics and not on logic. The side that wins will invariably point out how they have been right all along while the side that loses will warn of grave consequences in the future.

Cheating Politicians ? How Much Do Americans Care?

How important is it for your leader to be morally clean? The last few months have thrown up numerous instances where male politicians have cheated on their wives when they were in office. Of course, the combination of power and infidelity is as old as civilization itself. A person who is in a position of power will attract others. That attraction may be in the form of influence or may also be in the form of love or lust.

It takes a very strong individual to be aware of all these attractions and yet ignore them. Some even say that the tendency to have affairs is a sign of the gregarious and extrovert nature of the politician.

Most politicians are bothered about just one thing – how will my constituency react? If a significant percentage of the population in the constituency does not find the presence of two wives or husbands as an issue, the politician may not bother about the issue at all. There have been many instances where politicians have continued in an unhappy marriage simply because a divorce is unacceptable for their constituency.

In America, an individual has the right to be different as long as he or she delivers the goods. However, one thing that the American voter will not forgive is the sight of a lawmaker caught lying.

A person who admits to the affair will face a personal crisis. However, politician who lies on national television that he or she is innocent but admits to the mistake at a later date will quickly find his or her political constituency dwindling.

Over the years, with a middle class population in most countries bridging the gap between the poor and the rich, governance has taken more significance. Much like the middle class, the below poverty line pool, and the elite pool, want to be in safe hands. Good governance is the call of the times.

Governance has increased in relevance, because people have become more aware and alert. They are more demanding of their fundamental rights. They mean business when they vote for somebody to run the country. People are more conscious of what the government does with the taxes they pay.

Governance by itself does not imply the government. The government is an instrument of governance. Or one can say a part of it. A government makes national decisions. The implementation is passed on to entities that may or may not be related to the government’s administrative reign.

Since governance is decision-making and implementation, and the government is one of the actors, the spotlight is to establish the efficacy of the decision-makers. While the government is a top-level governance actor, low-level governance actors are local administrative bodies that manage affairs of a region.

So what are the qualities of good governance? Good governance requires joint participation of everyone. Like two hands that are required to clap, so too unity is required to implement something that is going to help the society.
Good governance requires a strict rule and law framework. It requires impartial enforcement agencies of these laws. Laws make the land. If the law of the land is weak, it will give many exit paths for bad governance actors to save themselves.

There’s never a dull moment in the life of a social giver. This is a person who believes in doing things rather waiting it to happen. The social giver is a rainmaker. Never waiting for the rains to arrive, but rather striving hard to make things happen.
The society needs such people. People who rise above the bureaucracy. Who would not want to make it their walking stick. These people look beyond it. Their awareness is commendable. Their intellect is worthy of being emulated.

Are you someone who stands up to be counted? Do you believe in making things happen in your society? Then the time is right. So many opportunities are there for the taking. All around, so many things need your attention.

Be it the deprived households, or the shadowy ghetto in the corner of the horizon. They all need help. You can be the change. Working for the society is not easy. It comes with lots of responsibility. You will be looked at, but not looked after. You are exposed, like the lone warrior in the arrow-raining battle-field.

Be the change the world wants to see, said Mahatma Gandhi. That’s what you should be. If you feel that a certain section of the society does not have electricity, don’t just post a letter to the local politician. Gather support. Muster up the courage to stand up for what you think is right. And do flail your conviction by lopsided mediocrity.

Be strong in spirit. Resolute in demeanor. And convinced about the purpose. These three form the backbone of any society-changing endeavor. You can do it, if you think you can.

When you want to become a politician, it’s a unique decision that you have made. Fully aware of the pitfalls of this profession, you should also see the high points of it. A political career is not easy. But it is not too difficult as well. If you are ready for the grinds of public life, you should dive into the profession.

You don’t need a particular background to be a politician. You just need to be popular. Popular because of your actions, your deeds, and your contributions to the society. Seldom do people grow up wanting to be a politician. How many adolescents have you heard wanting to become the president of America on a serious note!

Before preparing for a political career, ask yourself your objectives. Do you want to serve the people? Do you get pleasure from patriotic activities? Do you love you country? Can you sacrifice your time and energy for a cause that can sometimes be thankless?

Politics does bring fame and glamor. But that should never be the reason to join politics. A common reason many misinformed people have about joining politics is the acquiring of power. Power is what you can use, but not misuse. Power is often considered a ticket to free will. Constitutionally, power of an elected politician is limited.

After you figured out your objectives, conclude on choosing a party to join. See if the party complements your ideologies, principles, and ethics. Don’t join a party, because you see a route-map to the top. That’s an incorrect way of entering a political career. Choose a part wisely. If there isn’t any, don’t join any.

With the ease of the quick-swipe method of credit and debit cards, many of us are opting for what is faster and easier rather than using cash for everyday purchases. Some people still use cash, but what many don’t realize is that paying for items with cash has its advantages over using a credit or debit card.

Most people only carry a limited amount of cash, if any. It might be 50 dollars or it could be as much as 200 dollars. If you have a budget set in place for yourself or your family, using cash for purchases makes it much easier to keep from going over the amount allowed by your budget. Having to fish cash from your wallet may take a few seconds more than swiping a debit/credit card, but just think of the money you could be saving by staying under your spending limit!
